A sentence you get caught on: “Although he was the Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered” (Hebrews 5:8). The one who knows everything learns. Not because he lacked knowledge, but because he had never lived through being human from the inside.
Only when he became one himself did he know it the way only someone knows it who has carried it: being cold, being tired, being tempted, being forsaken. “Tempted in every way, just as we are” (Hebrews 4:15), so that he does not judge over us but feels with us.
Christmas is the day God began to know us from the inside.
